ENCOURAGE DEVELOPMENT ANDTRANSFORMATIVE INVESTMENT
WHERE INFRASTRUCTURE ALREADY EXISTS
The county has an extensive and robust infrastructure network that can support new development. To encourage investment
where this infrastructure already exists,
the county will ...
… advocate with municipalities, developers, schools, institutions,
and businesses to locate new development in proposed growth
areas
Much of the county is already developed and has the infrastructure in place to
support this development, including sewers, water, roads, and stormwater control.
Focusing new development on vacant and underutilized land in these developed
areas will save capital and operating infrastructure costs, lower construction costs
for new development, and shorten commuting times for workers.
The Future Land Use Map shown in the final Vision chapter has a number of mixed
use and residential land use categories that constitute designated growth areas for
the county. Future development should occur in appropriate locations within these
designated growth areas, primarily in mixed use areas, although undeveloped land
in residential areas is generally appropriate for new residential growth.
