IMPROVE TRANSPORTATIONACCESS TO BUSINESSES
Throughout history, transportation and economic development have gone hand in hand. Businesses must have good
transportation access to grow and thrive. To a certain extent, all transportation improvements improve access to businesses,
since they make it easier for workers to commute and haulers to move freight; however, there are specific projects and policies
intended to improve transportation access to employment centers or improve freight. These are highlighted in this section.
The county will ...
… work with
, the
, businesses,
and local municipalities to provide better access to employment
centers with new and improved interchanges, slip ramps, widened
and realigned roads, and new road connections
To determine need for improved access, the county will continuously monitor
development trends and commuting patterns for signs of congestion and other
indicators suggesting upgrades are necessary.
… partner with
, and other transit providers to expand transit
options in employment centers
Often, getting transit commuters that last mile can be difficult. The county will
advocate with SEPTA, transportation management associations, and businesses to
support bus service, shuttle service, and vans into business centers when ridership
warrants this service. In additon, the county will explore ways to extend more
public transportation into employment centers.

The Conshohockens grew after the completion of
Route 476. Their train access has been an additional
