How to Shop Local:
Farms are an important part of Montgomery County’s local culture,
history, and beauty. And our county’s farms are also a crucial part of
the local economy. Farming families, some of which have been farming
their land here for hundreds of years, provide fresh and healthy food for
the more than 800,000 people who call this county home, and maintain a
way of life that will greatly matter to future generations.
This guide includes both farms with on-site stores or farm stands,
nurseries and tree farms with native and locally grown plants, specialty
stores that sell local goods, as well as farmers’ markets across
Montgomery County. A map in the middle of this guide shows the
approximate locations of these destinations.
