Adam Polaski, a senior from Perkiomen Valley interviews Tionna, a senior from Norristown Area High School who used the Montcoworks Career Bank to search for a summer internship. The interview contains questions about her internship and the use of the Career Bank. AP: Overall, was your internship a positive, informational experience?
TF: Yes, my internship was a very positive and informational experience. It was well worth it.
AP: How long did it last?
TF: It lasted for three months, from June 2007 to September 2007.
AP: Would you pass on the information about the internship to friends or family members interested in the same field?
TF: I definitely passed on the internship information to my friends, family and teachers.
AP: If given the choice, would you take part in the internship again?
TF: Yes, I would take the opportunity again if I got the chance; in fact, my employer saved me a spot there if I wanted when I get out of college.
AP: During the internship, how did the workers at the business treat you? Were they receptive to your questions concerning the field and the position?
TF: The workers treated me like I have been a part of the team forever. They answered any questions I had and really made me feel welcomed.
AP: What were the best parts of the internship?
TF: The best part was the hands-on experience - people who are currently going to school for this occupation didn’t get the chance to do this.
AP: The worst part?
TF: The hours. I stayed for nine to ten hours on some days.
AP: How did you learn about the internship?
TF: I learned about the internship at the end of my junior year when my college career director informed my class about the montcoworks.com. I typed in my intended field and the site gave me a list of local establishments. I then chose one and emailed them stating that I was interested in their internship. They emailed me back within a few days for an interview.
AP: Was the Career Bank website easy to navigate?
TF: Yes, the website was pretty easy to navigate.
AP: Do you think that the website could be improved?
TF: I personally couldn’t think of anything to improve.
